Position Summary
The Hospital Aide/Kennel Assistant is responsible for maintaining and organizing the facility to ensure operational readiness and efficiency. This role encompasses various responsibilities throughout the hospital, including but not limited to animal care, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with patient care. The Hospital Aide serves as a vital link between patients, clients, and veterinary staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture aligned with our values: Respect, Learning, Integrity, Exceptional Service, and Enjoyment.
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare examination rooms and medical instruments.
- Set up kennels and cages for hospitalized animals.
- Maintain cleanliness of cages, pens, runs, and boarding facilities.
- Feed, hydrate, groom, and exercise animals during their stay.
- Ensure the hospital remains clean through sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waste disposal, and laundry.
- Sanitize and maintain an orderly outdoor space.
- Report any potential hazards or supply shortages.
- Restock supplies and materials as needed.
- Deliver professional, efficient, and high-quality care to clients while maximizing productivity.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that ensures the delivery of compassionate and effective healthcare to pets.
- Adhere to all practice policies, quality assurance protocols, and minimum care standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Prior experience in an animal care environment is preferred but not mandatory.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong written, verbal, and active listening communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Basic judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Compassion and empathy towards both animals and their owners.
- Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with a diverse range of clients and staff.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
- Proactive in identifying potential issues and presenting solutions while collaborating as a team player.
