Machinist Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our team at ITT. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating machine shop equipment, including manual Vertical Mills, Lathes, Drills, and CNC machines.

• Operate machine shop equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
• Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
• Perform a wide range of turning, facing, chamfering, cutting off, and similar machining operations on various materials.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and other equipment.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Report any unusual conditions to the supervisor.

• High School Diploma and 5 to 7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is typically moderate, with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
