About the Role

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly skilled Campus Planner to join our team. As a key member of our campus planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the physical development of our campus and ensuring that our facilities meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Campus and Space Planning
    • Develop and implement comprehensive campus plans that align with our institution's strategic goals and objectives.
    • Provide expertise and assistance on all aspects of campus and space planning, including feasibility studies, space programming, and project management.
    • Apply advanced planning concepts and objectives to resolve complex space planning issues and develop short- and long-range plans related to campus environments.
  • Project Management
    • Independently manage assigned planning projects, including project narratives, budgets, schedules, and other reporting and managing documents.
    • Provide subject matter expertise regarding campus planning, space planning, and space allocation during project phases.
    • Develop project scopes, prepare RFQs/RFPs, and participate in the selection of planning, architectural, landscape design, and engineering firms.
  • Data Analysis and Studies
    • Collaborate with GIS/space inventory manager and other unit partners to utilize data and space-related databases.
    • Provide analyses related to allocation, reallocation, and utilization of space, and provide relevant data to support space planning for major campus projects.
  • Outreach and Collaboration
    • Collaborate closely with the campus planning team on projects and initiatives across the University's portfolio.
    • Provide outreach to campus constituents on planning projects and advance campus accessibility and inclusion goals and objectives.
  • Quality Control and Standards
    • Develop campus planning and space planning guidelines and standards.
    • Conduct quality control reviews of project documents to ensure consistency with campus planning and space planning guidelines and standards.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in architecture, physical planning, or other closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in managing planning and/or major capital projects, including facilities planning, programming, pre-design, comprehensive campus planning, and/or space planning.
  • Experience in project budgeting is strongly preferred.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • One or more of the following certifications or licenses is preferred: Architect License, NCARB registration, LEED AP, completion of SCUP Planning Institute Workshops, AICP, and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of local building codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, zoning and entitlements, and related regulations.
  • Experience and ability to develop and apply space planning guidelines and standards.
  • Skills in effective use of applicable technology/systems, including AutoCAD, ARCHIBUS, ESRI ArcGIS, FME Platform, PeopleSoft, 25Live, Campus Solutions, and/or other space data software.
  • Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
