We are seeking a skilled ED Transporter to join our team at CentraState Healthcare System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for transporting patients to and from Triage, providing supportive nursing assistance to licensed professionals, and following established standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Transport patients to and from Triage as directed
- Provide supportive nursing assistance to licensed professionals
- Follow established standards and policies
- Provide considerate and respectful care to patients
- Identify and report behavior changes and patient requests to patient care providers
- Call for assistance from nursing staff if needed
- May be called upon to assist nursing staff in restraining patients
- Maintain patient rooms in a neat and orderly manner
- Identify risk management concerns and communicate findings to appropriate individuals
- Demonstrate initiative in the work environment
- Correctly perform all scheduled and assigned tasks
- Provide basic nursing care, including partial and/or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Participate in preparation and intervention of diagnostic or therapeutic patient care with practitioners
- Report and document status of patient condition and patient care outcomes to RN
- Notify nurse immediately for patient's complaints of pain/discomfort and any observed change in condition
- Provide appropriate interventions for pain as directed by nurse and report outcomes
- Verbalize/performs understanding of 1:1 precautions and documents appropriately
- Conduct rounding on patients in accordance with hospital policy/protocol
- Makes deliveries promptly and returns to work area
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving patients to and from stretchers and wheelchairs
- Assists with obtaining vital signs
- Consistently carries and answers mobile phone
- Ensures stretchers and wheelchairs are in proper working order and notifies Charge Nurse/Triage Nurse or Nurse Manager when repairs are needed
- Makes rounds at the end of shift to obtain wheelchairs throughout the department
- Runs errands as requested when not performing patient transports
- Delivers lab specimens, obtains equipment from Sterile Processing/Warehouse, cleans' stretchers and wheelchairs, or other requested items to correct departments
- Offers, assists and/or instructs all patients to gown
- Provides privacy and alerts RN of patient arrival
- Properly identifies the patient to be transported and medical chart, and transports them to the proper location
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills
