Become a vital part of a leading academic healthcare institution, UChicago Medicine, as a Clinic Nurse (RN) within the Multispecialty department at our Cottage Grove site. The Clinic Nurse will primarily serve as our Population Health nurse, with a significant emphasis on quality improvement initiatives rather than direct patient interactions.
In your role as a Clinic Nurse, you will deliver patient services across clinical and research domains. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of nursing care tasks under the guidance of the Clinical Nursing Supervisor, Physician Director, and/or Director of Outpatient Operations. These tasks may include therapeutic or diagnostic procedures and the administration of medications. You may also engage in various aspects of research clinical trial management, including screening, recruitment, interviewing subjects, data collection from hospital records, follow-up communications, and data entry.
Key Responsibilities
Engage in Healthy Planet initiatives (non-clinical)• Conduct follow-ups for spirometry: scheduling appointments, either curbside or via phone/MyChart (~500 patients)
• Outreach for MMR patients (pediatric population), managing orders and nurse scheduling
• Lead project: ensure consistent follow-up on abnormal results; communicate with families based on the severity of abnormalities, manage appointments, interpret new results, and potentially conduct second follow-ups Provide cross-coverage for medical advice calls and support triage operations Focus on project enhancements, metrics, and patient outcomes as directed by the Medical Director Execute any direct patient care duties as assigned by the Clinical Nursing Manager, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and institutional policies Monitor and document vital signs, assess patient responses, and report any changes to the Licensed Medical Physician Assist physicians during patient examinations or diagnostic procedures Collaborate with the Licensed Medical Physician to develop care plans for assigned patients Work alongside the patient care team to implement the established care plan Administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring patient safety Communicate any changes in the patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual status to the Licensed Medical Physician Demonstrate knowledge of and apply appropriate patient care protocols for neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients Maintain consistent communication with registered nurses, multidisciplinary team members, and physicians to enhance patient care quality and unit operations
Qualifications
Must hold a current license as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; Associate Degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and complete their degree within 30 months. ADN nurses are eligible for 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN from an accredited institution. A minimum of two to three years of experience as a registered nurse is preferredPreferred Experience
Experience in pediatric nursing is advantageousPosition Details
Full-time (1.0 FTE) Shift: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday Unit/Department: Multispecialty CBA Code: NNUCompliance with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement is mandatory for employment.
