Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Description: The Medication Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to our residents. This involves preparing and documenting medications, verifying labels, measuring vital signs, and observing medication ingestion.
Responsibilities:
- Medication Preparation: Prepare and document oral and/or topical medications for resident use under the guidance of the attending physician.
- Label Verification: Verify that all medications administered are properly labeled and recorded.
- Vital Sign Measurement: Measure, record, and report vital signs of residents accurately.
- Medication Observation: Observe and verify medication ingestion or application as directed, documenting any instances of refusal with reason(s).
- Clinical Record Keeping: Follow facility procedure for recording orders in the resident's clinical record, including medication type, route, dosage, frequency, and strength.
- Medical Terminology: Familiarize yourself with common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to medication administration.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience as a certified medication aide in long-term care.
- Licensed Certified Medication Aide with successful completion of state-approved training program and necessary examination(s).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age-related needs of residents served.
- SUPPORTIVE TEAM MEMBER, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
- Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Meet all state health requirements.
- CLEAR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK, be in good standing with the Texas Misconduct Registry, and not appear on the Office of Inspector General's (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
- Maintain current Certified Med-Aide License.
Compensation Package: We offer a competitive salary range of $35,000 - $45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Work Schedule: Available shifts include 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am.
