Job Summary

As a Cardiac Rhythm Monitor Technician at SSM Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms. Your primary responsibility will be to observe cardiac monitors, maintain accurate records, and report any rhythm changes to the appropriate units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run strip at time of admission, every 4 hours, and with any rhythm change.
  • Measure PR, QRS, and QT intervals and interpret rhythm accurately when a strip is run.
  • Sign each strip with first initial, full last name, and position.
  • Complete rhythm verification forms and post strips on telemetry logs for all units.
  • Notify appropriate units and staff for any changes in baseline rhythm, including heart rate, or potentially lethal rhythms in adults or children according to protocol.
  • Ensure alarms are on at all times and set at appropriate limits for adults and children according to protocol.
  • Notify staff when electrodes or batteries need to be checked, replaced, or changed.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the effect certain procedures or medications have on a patient's rhythm.
  • Run continuous strip for sustained VT, V-fib, asystole, and bradycardia less than 40 per minute until code team arrives or otherwise notified.
  • Maintain telemetry logs, current patient information, and telemetry charges.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
Work Environment

This role requires frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. You will also be required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Additionally, you will need to use your vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to identify and distinguish colors. You will also need to use your hearing and speech to share information through oral communication and to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
