Position Overview
Chamberlain University is seeking qualified individuals to join our academic team as part-time faculty in the biological sciences. This role is crucial for fostering a robust educational environment across our campuses.
Course Offerings
The faculty member may instruct courses such as:
- Microbiology Fundamentals with Laboratory (BIOS-242): This course introduces essential microbiological concepts, focusing on significant pathogens and their related diseases. Key topics include microscopy, microbial growth, genetics, antimicrobial agents, epidemiology, and immune responses. Laboratory sessions emphasize aseptic techniques, microorganism culture, and microscopy.
- Anatomy & Physiology I-IV with Laboratory (BIOS-251 thru BIOS-256): This comprehensive four-course series explores human anatomy and physiology through a systems-based approach, emphasizing the relationship between structure and function at both macroscopic and microscopic levels.
Course Structure
Classes typically convene once or twice weekly for 2-4 hours, delivered in eight-week sessions. The instructional format combines in-person engagement with technological enhancements, including online discussions and assignments, to enrich the learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive syllabus aligned with institutional standards.
- Organize, prepare, and regularly update course materials to ensure relevance and accuracy.
- Utilize various technological tools to enhance course accessibility and student engagement.
- Communicate effectively, setting clear expectations and providing timely feedback to students.
- Ensure assessment materials align with course objectives and maintain fairness in grading.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned and adhere to institutional policies.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A master's or doctoral degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant field.
- A demonstrated passion for education and a natural aptitude for teaching.
- Strong subject matter expertise along with excellent communication skills.
- A commitment to student success and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Official transcripts from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent evaluation for degrees obtained outside the U.S.
Compensation
The anticipated compensation for this role ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
