Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Systems Specialist to join our team at Advantage Technical. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our process control networks and industrial control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control Systems Modernization: Provide technical support for the modernization of our control systems, including specification, design, testing, commissioning, and documentation.
  • Software Upgrades and Maintenance: Perform software upgrades, controller configurations, backups, and routine control system maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Process Control Network Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our Process Control Network (PCN) for our refinery operations, including software and hardware components.
  • Network Administration: Support Microsoft Windows network administration and design, including deploying security patches, anti-virus applications, and software upgrades.
  • SCADA Connections and Communication Protocols: Configure SCADA connections to the PCN and manage communication protocols for linking 3rd party devices to the DCS.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Respond to and resolve issues related to distributed control system hardware and the process control network.
  • Software Application Management: Understand and manage software applications in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and control systems network.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor KPIs to optimize the PCN and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Standards and Procedures Development: Develop and implement standards, practices, and procedures for managing and maintaining the PCN.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigations: Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and incident investigations.
  • Industrial Control Systems Maintenance and Upgrade Strategies: Working knowledge of Industrial Control Systems hardware and software maintenance, migration, and upgrade strategies.
  • Refinery Field Instrumentation Experience: Experience with refinery field instrumentation.
  • Cisco Networking Experience: Cisco networking experience, including switch/router management.
  • Strong Desire to Learn: Strong desire to learn and build skills in process control and network technology.
  • Honeywell DCS Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of Honeywell DCS systems, including TDC3000, C300, TPS, and Experion PKS.
  • Strong Computer Skills: Strong computer skills.
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in refinery or related industry.
