Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Join our team at AdventHealth as a Certified Medical Assistant in our Primary Care Network. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and providers.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will provide appropriate care to patients, follow AdventHealth service standards, and assist providers during treatment and examination. This includes safely and effectively greeting patients, obtaining clinical information, financial and demographic information, and performing office duties as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform initial response-screening following protocols under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Clean, prepare, and maintain examinations rooms and treatment areas.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Prepare specimens for outside lab testing, as ordered by the physician.
  • Check sample medications for overstocking and date of expiration.
  • Label samples according to protocol before they are dispensed to patients.
  • Log in, and dispose of, sample medications according to policy.
  • Schedule patients' inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures.
  • May be required to travel as needed to fulfill staffing needs.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must have a current, valid BLS.
  • Must have either 1 year of minimum Medical Assistant work experience, or have completed an accredited MA school program with completion of an externship.
  • Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Certification Association, American Medical Technologists, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, National Center for Competency Testing, or National Health Career Association.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
