Associate Paralegal, Claim Specialist

This role performs a variety of routine paralegal duties and legal administrative tasks for assigned attorneys, requiring a working knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Compiles and drafts legal documents for review and use by attorneys, including routine documents, discovery responses, affidavits, and other legal documents.
- Prepares initial pleadings and filings, coordinates requests between multiple parties involved in litigation, and subpoenas records.
- Conducts preliminary legal research as necessary, assists attorneys in trial as needed, and captures time and records billable time in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Reviews incoming mail to determine urgency and works with attorneys to draft and handle correspondence and email.
- Serves as a liaison with experts and witnesses in scheduling/coordinating appearances and/or depositions along with documentation retrieval.
- Schedules/coordinates depositions, medical examinations, and other court-designated hearings, retains court reporters and interpreters as necessary.
- Maintains attorney calendars, diaries, and tickler dates, reviews calendars daily, and proactively handles upcoming events and determines dates upon which various pleadings must be served and filed.
- Inputs and maintains information into case management systems, ensuring data integrity, and assists with projects as requested.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with paralegal or litigation/claim experience and insurance-related experience being advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF software, and advanced interpersonal skills to communicate with court personnel, other attorneys, and their staff, clients, witnesses, and outside vendors.
- Advanced grammar and writing skills, basic knowledge of general law office procedures, and local court/jurisdiction rules and procedures.
- Highly proficient with case management systems and other software applications, ability to learn proprietary software systems, and identify urgency and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, basic research and analytical skills, and paralegal certification from an ABA-certified program.
