Join the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) team as a School Bus Driver/Transportation Instructor and make a difference in the lives of children and families in Berks County.
Job Summary:As a School Bus Driver/Transportation Instructor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school. You will work closely with the Training and Safety Specialist to develop and implement training programs for transportation employees, focusing on safety, efficiency, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Train transportation employees on safe driving practices, emergency procedures, and customer service skills.
- Develop and implement training programs to improve transportation services and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with the Training and Safety Specialist to develop and implement policies and procedures for transportation services.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and school staff.
- Valid PA Commercial Driver's License with proper endorsements.
- Current, valid Red Cross First Aid Course and CPR Certificate.
- Ability to identify geographic areas and navigate through Berks County.
- Negative drug/alcohol screenings.
- High School Diploma and/or G.E.D. preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.
This is a part-time position, 12 months/year, with a salary established by the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, navigate through Berks County, and interact with students, parents, and school staff.
