About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Civil Inspector to oversee the construction of water-related projects in New Jersey. As a full-time on-site role, the Inspector will be responsible for conducting routine inspections of civil infrastructure, identifying defects and potential hazards, and documenting contract compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of civil infrastructure to ensure compliance with contract documents and approved change orders.
  • Identify and report defects and potential hazards, and document all work with daily reports, photos, and videos.
  • Coordinate with contractors to identify upcoming work and verify it against issued look-ahead schedules.
  • Review contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and other associated documentation.
  • Communicate daily with the AECOM Resident Engineer and contractor's field team.
  • Track progress of work in the field and monitor contractor's adherence to schedule and payment requests.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure that delivered materials comply with approved submittals and observe and approve contractor's testing and QA/QC activities.
  • Maintain necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs.
  • Provide input for construction changes and assist with preparation and negotiation of field orders and change orders.
  • Observe implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma and 8 years of experience in construction inspection for heavy site civil infrastructure construction projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET Level IV Certified.
  • ACI Certified.
  • Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade II.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Health and Safety Course.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, strong oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
