Job Summary

Assists front-line supervision in performing leadership duties, communicating daily objectives, and serving as a liaison between line employees and supervisors. Mentors and trains employees, ensuring accurate cutting and ordering of meat products.

Responsibilities
  • Directs short-term flow and organization of production areas.
  • Cuts and trims meat to yield specifications.
  • Communicates discrepancies between cutting tickets and customer purchases.
  • Lables products and equipment to meet legal and safety regulations.
  • Records data to produce cutting yield tests.
  • Counts and maintains product inventory levels.
  • Ensures product specifications are met.
  • Maintains work areas in compliance with U.S.D.A. guidelines.
  • Assembles and tears down equipment.
  • Cleans and stores knives, scales, and other equipment.
  • Manages profitability by achieving product yields and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and conversions.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Prior experience with portion cutting meat.
Professional Skills
  • Ability to reduce processing costs by cutting and sizing portions accurately.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goals.

Physical Demands
  • Standing, walking, and reaching are regular activities.
  • Heavy lifting activities.
  • Ability to touch, feel, manipulate fingers and limbs to handle objects, controls, operate various processing, and material handling equipment.
  • The ability to smell is required, to detect levels of wholesomeness and spoilage.
Work Environment

This position requires the candidate to be in refrigerated processing and warehouse areas. These areas are cold and wet, and exposure to moving machinery is a regular occurrence.
