About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Solina. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs and troubleshooting on food processing equipment, including vertical and horizontal form, fill, and seal machines, conveyors, metal detectors, X-ray detectors, checkweighers/scales, labeling systems, bag sealers, ribbon blenders, sifters, and pneumatic pressure conveying systems.
  • Install or replace motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves.
  • Rebuild valves, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and make necessary repairs.
  • Utilize electrical hand tools and devices to find short circuits and electrical faults.
  • Perform repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc.
  • Handle installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  • Act as a lead by training, mentoring, and providing guidance to less experienced and hourly maintenance employees.
  • Effectively read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with superiors, peers, and representatives from other departments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
  • 4 years of direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma, or Associate's Degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school is a plus.
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
  • Ability to work at heights and operate a forklift, articulating boom lift, or scissor lift.
  • Can understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand work orders, instructions, daily reports, and machine manuals.
  • Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices.
  • Ability to work proactively without the presence of supervision or leadership.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and other shifts when required.
Working Conditions

The plant environment will include wet, dusty, or humid conditions (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
