Nurse Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team at the Indian Health Service. As a Nurse Educator, you will play a critical role in providing education and training to our nursing staff, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement educational programs for nursing staff, focusing on emergency care and critical care principles.
- Provide one-on-one training and mentorship to nursing staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement policies and procedures related to emergency care and critical care.
- Conduct regular evaluations of nursing staff to assess their knowledge and skills, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in emergency care and critical care, incorporating this knowledge into educational programs and training sessions.
- A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- At least one year of professional nursing experience in emergency care or critical care, with a focus on education and training.
- Knowledge of critical care diagnostic and treatment techniques, including chest tube insertion, intubation, central line and pulmonary artery catheter placement, pericardiocentesis, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct new staff on proper use of equipment.
This position is located in Gallup, NM, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced emergency department environment. The selected candidate will be required to pass a background investigation and undergo a physical examination prior to appointment.
