Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Painter/Blaster to join our team in Altamont, NY.

The successful candidate will be responsible for removing oxidation, scale, paint, or other undesirable surface finishes from structural steel using a media blast system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for blasting by masking non-painted areas
  • Operate media blast equipment and handle product in and out of the blast booth
  • Mix paint according to specifications and maintain paint records
  • Apply primer and paint per work instructions
  • Maintain equipment and monitor blast media usage
  • Interact with team members and other departments in a professional manner
  • Work within the scope of MWI's safety policies and procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • HS Diploma / GED
  • 2+ years' industrial paint work experience
  • Knowledge of blast equipment, blast media, and blast profiles (a plus)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy pieces
  • Able to bend and twist body in various positions
  • Ability to wear protective equipment while working
