Job Summary

The Barnes & Noble Barista is a key member of our restaurant team, responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere in our cafes. As a Barista, you will be the face of our brand, interacting with customers, and providing a personalized experience that exceeds their expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, and Americanos, in accordance with our standards and health codes.
  • Provide world-class customer service, ensuring timely and friendly interactions, suggestive selling, and maintaining product presentation standards.
  • Perform all support tasks in the restaurant, including cleaning cases and equipment, restocking displays, and maintaining restaurant cleanliness.
  • Assist in opening and closing procedures, and support tasks in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring accurate execution of loss prevention procedures, including cashiering and inventory standards, monitoring waste logs, and adhering to discount and return policies.
  • Input and access information in the Point-of-Sale system with high accuracy.
  • Help orient new Baristas, ensuring a smooth acclimation to the store and our bookselling culture.
  • Assist in any area of the restaurant when necessary, including the bar, cash register, and table service.

Requirements

  • You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, and learning new systems and processes.
  • You should be able to work in a team environment, building rapport and collaborative relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • You should be able to take the initiative to expand your knowledge and understanding of the business.
  • You should be comfortable using a computer and cash register.
