Qualifications

HSPPS # All staff engaged in program service delivery must possess adequate knowledge, training, experience, and competencies to fulfill their responsibilities.

Licenses / Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record – proof of auto insurance within agency limits or reliable transportation.
  • Immediate enrollment in the Criminal History Registry-Child Care Division.
  • Current Health Appraisal, updated biennially.
  • Certification in First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR.
Education / Experience Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with enrollment in a program to obtain a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Preferred: BA or MA in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 21+ semester hours in ECE/Child Development.
  • Completion of state-mandated 45-hour coursework or ability to complete within specified timeframes.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood setting with a diverse group of preschool children aged 3-5.
  • This position supports multiple classrooms.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Knowledge to:

  • Facilitate effective and nurturing interactions between teachers and children.
  • Design and implement educational experiences that ensure effective curriculum delivery.
  • Utilize assessment results to promote children's progress in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Establish and maintain professional boundaries with families.
  • Employ technology for planning, recording, reporting, and monitoring educational and child development services.

Skills/Abilities to:

  • Communicate effectively in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • Collect, analyze, and apply data to enhance child outcomes and school readiness.
  • Address challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Manage time effectively and solve problems in diverse situations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community representatives.
