Sustaining Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview
As a key player in the engineering division, the Sustaining Mechanical Engineer will focus on maintaining and enhancing the standard components of our advanced food processing technologies and conveying systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate suppliers and collaborate with manufacturing teams to devise effective solutions for our clientele.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute activities related to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical components and subsystems.
- Design major system components and subsystems from initial concept through to production, utilizing engineering tools such as 3D CAD and analysis software.
- Develop and implement functionality and reliability tests for designs, including the creation of special test equipment or fixtures.
- Analyze and resolve issues related to design, manufacturing, functionality, and reliability of equipment by gathering data from various sources.
Collaboration and Quality Assurance
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering group to establish processes for manufacturing components and subsystems.
- Engage directly with suppliers to specify, develop, and apply purchased parts.
- Direct support personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, as well as in the testing of components or subsystems.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure parts meet specifications and develop quality plans for components.
Field Support
- Travel to customer locations to install beta test components and assist in the repair of existing equipment.
- Provide direct support to customers in resolving performance and reliability issues with components and subsystems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with five to eight years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) with up to two years of related experience.
- Experience in designing food processing equipment and project management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), along with experience in modeling using FEM and structural design analysis.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply advanced calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory to solve complex engineering problems.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of producing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
