Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Director, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a skilled healthcare professional responsible for the comprehensive care of a specific group of patients during a designated period. This role involves utilizing therapeutic techniques, the nursing process, and collaboration with other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. In the capacity of charge nurse, responsibilities will include coordinating unit activities and addressing the needs of patients and families, while also managing clinical procedures and interventions based on patient acuity and volume.
Reporting Structure: Director of Intensive Care (ICU)
Employment Status: Non-exempt
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Must hold a current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Tennessee.
Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to function with minimal supervision are essential. The role requires the capacity to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment and to take appropriate actions as necessary.
Certifications Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
(BLS certification is to be obtained within the first week of orientation prior to patient care)
(ACLS and PALS certifications should be completed within the first three months of employment)
Licensure:
Current and active Registered Nurse License in the State of Tennessee.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
• May occasionally perform duties of other nursing staff such as CNA, MA, or LPN.
• Participation in staff meetings, training sessions, projects, and committees is expected.
• Adherence to the policies and procedures of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Lawrenceburg is mandatory.
• Must be available for scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.
• Acceptance of call schedules as directed is necessary.
• Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the established dress code.
