Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and supervision of various trades and maintenance activities, including:

  • Managing the workforce involved in building maintenance, utilities, groundskeeping, and janitorial services.
  • Acting as the Project Supervisor and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for maintenance projects.
  • Performing administrative duties, including preparing Human Resources documentation for recruitment and classification.
  • Reviewing and approving payroll, leave requests, and scheduling for maintenance staff.
  • Providing expert technical support in areas such as electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility upkeep.

About the Organization

The U.S. Department of the Interior manages various historical and natural sites, including significant locations from the U.S. Civil War. These sites are preserved for their historical integrity and are recognized as important landmarks.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is subject to a background investigation.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
  • Technical practices related to maintenance operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and specifications.
  • Experience in using and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of materials and their applications in maintenance tasks.

Volunteer experience is also recognized and can contribute to the qualifications for this position.

Education

For Wage Grade (WG) positions, there is no substitution of education for experience.
