Position Overview

Remote - Entry Level Medical Coding Role for CPC-A or CPC

Location Requirement: Must reside in the EST or CST time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate medical documentation and accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT codes, and necessary modifiers.
  • Ensure Coding Department maintains a minimum accuracy rate of 95% in workflow.
  • Meet the expected productivity standards set by the department.
  • Adhere to all policies established by the Coding Department.
  • Follow company-wide policies and procedures diligently.
  • Engage in ongoing education to uphold coding certification; it is the coder's responsibility to maintain certification, with verification required.
  • Possess knowledge of the current ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Understand the 2024 Documentation Guidelines for Evaluation and Management services.
  • Comply with HIPAA Security Rules and all relevant Information Security Policies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • CPC-A or CPC certification is essential.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Evaluation and Management coding is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is necessary.
  • Ability to sit and read on a computer for extended periods is required.
  • Must be organized, conscientious, and possess strong skills.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize daily tasks effectively.
  • Adherence to an approved work schedule and punctuality is expected.

Technical Skills and Home Office Requirements

  • A dedicated and secure workspace within your home.
  • A separate work desktop or laptop is required.
  • Dual monitor setup is necessary.
  • High-speed or fiber optic internet connection is essential; satellite internet is not acceptable.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency with a 10-key number pad is required.

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Compensation: Starting at $17.00 per hour

Expected Work Hours: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Language Requirement: Fluent English (Required)
