Job Description

The Appalachian Circuit Public Defender's Office is seeking experienced attorneys to join our team in Gilmer and Fannin Counties. As a Public Defender, you will be responsible for providing legal representation to individuals who cannot afford an attorney. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting legal research to build a strong defense case
  • Interviewing clients and gathering relevant information
  • Negotiating plea bargains with prosecutors
  • Writing legal documents, including motions, briefs, and appeals
  • Representing clients in court hearings and trials
  • Providing legal advice and guidance to clients
  • Collaborating with other attorneys and legal professionals
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations
