Opportunity Overview:

The South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) is in search of a committed and empathetic Primary Care Physician to become a vital member of our Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). In this capacity, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional, patient-centered healthcare to our esteemed veterans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a designated group of veterans, offering comprehensive primary healthcare services.
  • Provide preventive care, which includes health assessments, vaccinations, and health education.
  • Effectively diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health issues, including complex medical conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including specialists, nurses, and pharmacists, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Inform patients and their families about health issues, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • Engage in quality enhancement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the PACT.

Qualifications:
  • Medical Degree: Must hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification: Required certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine, or eligibility for certification.
  • State Medical License: A valid, unrestricted medical license in Texas is mandatory.
  • Clinical Proficiency: Demonstrated strong clinical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality primary care.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster effective patient relationships.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse healthcare team.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary: Competitive annual salary range of $230,000 - $250,000, commensurate with experience and market considerations.
