About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. as a Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing data warehouse, data analysis, and reporting solutions to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data warehouse, data analysis, and reporting solutions to drive business value.
  • Develop databases, objects, functions, and structures for data storage, retrieval, and reporting.
  • Design and develop Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) solutions to populate the data warehouse.
  • Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting requested information from database systems and/or enterprise management systems.
  • Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications and back-end interfaces in support of business objectives.
  • Build report and analytic prototypes based on initial business requirements.
  • Design, run, and monitor performance tests on new and existing systems for the purpose of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
  • Promote strong quality practices by performing unit testing and providing appropriate level of support for user acceptance testing, as needed.
  • Act as a support resource for the technical support staff to ensure that customer-reported issues are being addressed in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Serve as a liaison with database administrators, developers, and vendors (if needed) to assist in resolving problems with systems.
  • Maintain and test the data warehouse in compliance with the company's disaster recovery plan.
  • Conduct research on emerging software development solutions and standards in support of business needs.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to design solutions.
Requirements
  • 3+ years in a development or systems analysis role.
  • 2+ years designing and managing a business intelligence/data warehouse.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field.
  • In lieu of the Bachelor's Degree, an Associate's Degree in a Computer Science or technology-related field combined with two years of additional related experience may be considered.
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of BI/DW methodology and techniques.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of data transformation.
  • Proficient with Azure Synapse orchestration and transformation tools, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Databricks.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data modeling, including SQL Server Analysis Services BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
  • T-SQL development and/or past DBA experience preferred.
  • Experience setting up databases and CI/CD infrastructure with Azure tools desired.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI strongly preferred.
