Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data entry and verify patient benefit eligibility.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between patients and insurance providers, facilitating interactions with healthcare professionals and administrative teams.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding billing processes, service offerings, and policies.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications related to medication delivery and associated services.
  • Coordinate financial arrangements and collect necessary co-payments.
  • Adhere strictly to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the provision of safe and effective medication therapies in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Accurately interpret and extract information from patient medical records.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Contribute positively to the operational efficiency of the department.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality in line with policy standards.
  • Deliver courteous and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with hospital and pharmacy personnel, demonstrating sound professional judgment.
  • Comply with all safety, security, and risk management protocols.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, identifying oneself and the department.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a community pharmacy or health plan setting.
  • Experience in third-party billing and benefits investigation is essential.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with QS1 billing software, EPIC EMR, and CoverMyMeds is advantageous.
  • Must be a registered pharmacy technician in the state of practice.
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
