Senior Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our Finance team at KLM Careers. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing regular reports, and managing the cost accounting system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and compare standard costs to actuals, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data to determine costs of business activities, such as raw materials, labor, and other standard related expenses.
  • Participate in physical inventories and report on results to the executive group.
  • Assist in month-end closing by preparing journal entries related to various product lines and/or standard costs.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering to ensure costing and support new product development.
  • Provide ad hoc reports as requested by local or executive management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience with cost accounting focus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to effectively interact and communicate across multiple functions within the organization.
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with JD Edwards ERP system.
