Overview:
The Patient Care Assistant plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients in various surgical settings, including Pre-Op, PACU, Phase II, OR, and Procedure Rooms, under the guidance of registered nursing staff.
This part-time position operates on a flexible schedule, with shifts available Monday through Thursday during daytime hours, based out of a leading orthopedic surgery center.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient rooming, vital signs monitoring, documentation, and preparation for surgical procedures.
- Support the transition of patients from Phase I to Phase II care.
- Facilitate patient discharge, including dressing assistance and transportation arrangements.
- Provide assistance with daily living activities within the surgical center.
- Support physicians in the procedure room as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, ensuring proper inventory levels.
- Adapt to various roles within the center as needed, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Apply aseptic techniques and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with data entry and documentation as required.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate care experience.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and streamline surgical processes.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to foster professional growth.
- Contribute to cost management by utilizing resources efficiently.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED or equivalent required.
Current BLS certification or completion upon hire.
Skills and Abilities:
- Adhere to company policies and ethical guidelines.
- Complete required training and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and effective communication skills.
- Prioritize tasks effectively while adapting to the needs of the center.
- Utilize logical thinking to solve problems and follow instructions accurately.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and travel to various locations as needed.
