Job Title: Director and Attending Veterinarian

At Loyola University Chicago, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director and Attending Veterinarian to join our team. As a key member of our research community, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the veterinary care of all vertebrate animal species at Loyola University Chicago.
  • Provide operational management and short- and long-term planning of animal use/care facilities and services.
  • Ensure compliance with university policy, state and federal laws and regulations related to the use and care of vertebrate animals.
  • Serve as the campus Attending Veterinarian to provide clinical and diagnostic support for laboratory animals.
  • Participate in veterinary reviews of all new and renewal protocols.
  • Supervise and oversee the performance of all staff/faculty that support the operations of the Comparative Medicine Facility (CMF) and Animal Care Facility (ACF).
Requirements:
  • Veterinary Medical Degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited or approved veterinary medical college or school.
  • Board certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) is preferred.
