Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Technician to join our team at Berry Global. As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our automation systems, ensuring safe and efficient production processes. This is a regular full-time position in our manufacturing facility in Monroe, NC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate automation systems in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform daily walk-throughs to ensure part containment, equipment condition, and clear walkways
  • Check email and JDE system daily for scheduled PMs and mold change schedules
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties on all equipment
  • Set up and maintain mold changes, bailer troubleshooting, and repair
  • Repair offline and online automation equipment, including robots
  • Maintain high-level housekeeping in and around the work area
  • Perform job requirements in a safe and professional manner
  • Understand and adhere to food safety, ISO, and plant safety policies
  • Assist with training on automation, robot, and vision systems
  • Communicate changes and important information to the Manager or Supervisor
  • Ensure system performance is optimized and running safely
  • Record accurate production data
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to develop continuous improvement opportunities
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; 2-4 year electrical degree highly desirable
  • Previous manufacturing experience required; plastics/injection molding experience a plus
  • Self-starter with eagerness to learn and take initiative
  • Ability to learn robotics and automation systems
  • Ability to learn wiring diagrams and troubleshoot pneumatics, AC or DC circuits, and motors
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • Ability to use and read rulers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Ability to weld using stick, MIG, and TIG processes
  • Ability to use oxyacetylene torch
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and occasionally climb platforms or ladders
  • Ability to utilize computer software (Microsoft products preferred)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and handle multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate safety, goals, and Company expectations
