The Culinary Institute of America - Hyde Park (CIA) is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager, Back of House Operations (BOH). This individual will assist the Food & Beverage Operations team in ensuring the successful daily operation of our on-campus restaurants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate open communication with the FBO team to provide an excellent learning atmosphere for students and a quality experience for guests.
- Manage the opening and closing of the restaurant for BOH, including supervising staff and maintaining inventory.
- Develop and implement training programs for BOH staff, covering all positions as needed.
- Supervise supplemental employees and manage administrative aspects of student participation in the Earn & Learn Program.
- Assist with cross-training incoming students, work-study students, and Earn & Learn students on positions and stations for BOH.
- Maintain accurate records of food, beverage, and non-food costs, controlling inventories and adhering to budget guidelines.
- Order necessary supplies and materials for BOH operations, collaborating with internal departments as needed.
- Ensure CIA standards of dress code, sanitation, and safety are upheld by students and guests.
- Communicate reservations, special requests, and updates to FOH and BOH staff.
- Participate in Social Media efforts and report maintenance needs to the Facilities Department.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree from the CIA or equivalent experience.
- One year of experience in a fine dining establishment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from the CIA or equivalent.
- Valid TIPS Certification.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- ServSafe certification.
Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to multiple priorities.
- High energy level and self-motivation.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing tasks and demands.
- Familiarity with MICROS Simphony, OpenTable, Eatec, or similar operating systems.
Working Conditions:
- Able to work nights and weekends as required.
- Able to lift 50 pounds as needed.
- Able to stand for up to eight hours at a time.
- Able to bend, stoop, or reach as needed.
