The Role
As a Chief Deputy Clerk for Supervisory Affairs, you will play a crucial role in overseeing specialized clerical operations within the Office of the Clerk of the Board. This position is classified as a "confidential" supervisory role, where you will manage personnel dedicated to supporting various legislative bodies, including the County's Board of Supervisors and numerous other commissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor clerical staff engaged in specialized tasks.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting legislative bodies.
- Oversee the preparation and processing of legal documents and notices.
- Coordinate activities related to meetings of the Board of Supervisors and other administrative boards.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of Sacramento County government functions and procedures.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations pertinent to local legislative bodies.
- Proficiency in office management and modern office equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a minimum of two years of full-time clerical experience that includes public interaction, explaining rules and regulations, and resolving complaints. Experience in creating meeting agendas and scheduling is essential.
In addition, candidates should be prepared to comply with specific requirements, including potential notary public certification and background checks. A valid California Driver License is also required.
This role requires a proactive approach to managing clerical operations and the ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative environment.
