POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is integral to our mission of uniting individuals to build homes, communities, and hope by:

  • Engaging with volunteers and family partners to ensure a rewarding volunteer experience on-site and in our ReStores.
  • Facilitating both formal and informal volunteer appreciation initiatives.

Participating in community outreach efforts to promote volunteer opportunities and educate the public about the impact of Austin Habitat for Humanity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as a site host, welcoming and signing in volunteers while ensuring they are informed and supported during their time on-site.
  • Assist with volunteer management tasks, including safety assessments, responding to inquiries, maintaining databases, and tracking volunteer participation.
  • Coordinate volunteer support, organizing and managing resources for projects, build days, and special events.
  • Support the ReStore volunteer program.
  • Participate in community outreach events.

Facilitate both formal and informal volunteer appreciation programs, including weekly appreciation communications, annual recognition events, and activities for national volunteer week.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various sites.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong team-oriented mindset and customer service focus.
  • Ability to engage with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Willingness to work outdoors as necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Public speaking capabilities.
  • Experience in volunteerism and recruitment.
  • Event coordination experience.

This position requires an educational background of:

  • An Associate's Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related field, or at least two years of experience in HR, Social Services, or a similar area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Familiarity with VolunteerHub is advantageous.
  • Two years of experience working with volunteers and managing projects.
  • Certification in Volunteer Management is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Occasionally, the employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
