Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Metropolitan Healthcare Services Inc. as a Patient Care Specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide and assist residents with activities of daily living as per individual care plans.
- Maintain residents' stability by checking vital signs and weight, and recording information.
- Provide resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials.
- Assist with transporting residents to different areas of the facility as necessary.
- Answer residents' call lights and requests.
- Encourage residents to function at their maximum level by assisting in restorative techniques and promoting independence.
- Attend mandatory in-services, C.N.A. meetings, and complete required hours of educational in-services to maintain certification.
- Maintain accurate records adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulations of the nursing home.
- Pass meal trays, assist feeding residents, and monitor meals as per policy.
- Interact supportively with residents, family, and other staff.
- Receive and give report to the team leader at the beginning and end of shift, respectively.
- Responsible for carrying out facility safety and infection control program.
- Observe and report resident needs, abnormal conditions, or behavioral changes to the team leader, charge nurse, or nurse manager.
- Complete assignments in a timely fashion and follow resident care plans as written.
- Maintain residents' rooms and supplies in a neat manner.
- Assist in promoting the Quality of Life set forth in the 'Residents Bill of Rights'.
- Carry resident assignment sheets on person while on duty and respect confidentiality of patients, departments, and nursing home information.
- Report to work on time and be on the unit and ready for duty at scheduled times.
- Give adequate notice to supervisory personnel when calling in sick or late, according to department standards.
- Lift and transfer residents as per individual care plans.
- Punch in and out consistently with nursing home policy.
- Observe department guidelines regarding use of meal periods, coffee, breaks, and quitting time.
- Do not abuse sick time when used, and verify as required.
- Resolve conflicts or problems in working relationships without involvement of higher authority.
- Follow safety rules and procedures, work carefully, and avoid situations that could lead to accidents.
- Report all accidents to supervisor upon occurrence, complete incident forms, and send to DNS.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
- Utilize personal protection equipment, engineering, and work practice controls to prevent/minimize occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- Work with supervisor and other members of the work group in planning and building an effective team.
- Follow instructions, meet work schedules and standards without close supervision.
- Complete work of sufficient quality and quantity.
- Deviate from established schedules and instructions only with approval by nurse manager or designee.
- Interact with family members and other staff in a professional manner and promote positive environments.
- Adhere to dress code at all times.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new procedures by asking questions and/or demonstration.
- Adhere to shift routine.
- Clean closets, put residents' clothes away, change calendars, and assist with new employee orientation as requested.
- Assist other staff when work is completed.
- Audit completed (QA, safety, infection control) as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a NYS approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
- 1 year of C.N.A. experience.
