Key Responsibilities:
The GI Lab Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures, including:
- Conducting thorough assessments of patients prior to procedures and clearly explaining the process, including potential risks and benefits.
- Administering necessary pre-procedure medications and vigilantly monitoring vital signs throughout the procedure.
- Assisting physicians during procedures by providing instruments, retracting tissue, and ensuring suctioning as required.
- Continuously observing the patient's condition during the procedure and promptly reporting any changes to the physician.
- Administering post-procedure medications and overseeing the patient's vital signs during the recovery phase.
- Educating patients and their families on post-procedure care, including recovery instructions and follow-up requirements.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to guarantee the highest standard of patient care.
- Maintaining precise and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, procedure notes, and care plans.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A valid RN license.
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a GI lab or a comparable environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- A solid understanding of gastrointestinal procedures and patient care in this specialized field.
