Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including administering pre-operative medications and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean and organized operating room, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all patients receive high-quality care and that all surgical procedures are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and care coordination.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA).
  • Or, provides evidence of the successful completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the United States Military.
  • 6 to 12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to adapt to changes within the unit.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment, and often without relief.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy relating to the surgical procedure and the instrumentation required in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Ability to set priorities and respond appropriately to actual and/or potential life-threatening situations.
