About the Role

pOpshelf is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and well-organized store environment while assisting the Store Team Leader in creating a customer-first store culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting and assisting customers, and operating cash registers and scanners to itemize purchases.
  • Assist the Store Team Leader in creating and supporting a customer-first store culture.
  • Model product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience.
  • Facilitate merchandising the store in a visually appealing manner to drive sales.
  • Rotate product to create eye-catching displays and maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized store environment.
  • Assist in educating store team members about store products to provide a differentiated shopping experience.
  • Maintain daily and weekly cleaning checklists to ensure a superior customer shopping experience.
  • Ensure condense and reset standards are maintained consistently to provide a clutter-free shopping experience.
  • Open and close the store as needed and assist with scheduling employees, providing training, and conducting safety meetings.
  • Follow company work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, unpacking, stocking, and rotating merchandise.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels and implementing plan-o-zones to present merchandise according to established practices.
  • Ensure financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in a specialty retail environment preferred.
  • Six months of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run check-out stations, stock merchandise, and unload trucks.
  • Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment.
  • Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing using a ladder.
  • Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
  • Exposure to strong scents and fragrances.
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to wet floor surfaces.
  • Occasional exposure to household and industrial cleaning solutions.
  • Occasional or regular driving to make bank deposits and assist in other locations as needed.
