Job Description

Job Overview

The role involves executing professional-level tasks related to the development, organization, administration, and assessment of designated programs and functions. This includes offering guidance and technical expertise to program staff, various departments, the community, and participants involved in the programs. The incumbent may oversee one or more specialized initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will deliver nutritional services on behalf of Hillsborough County Health Care Services. Responsibilities encompass nutrition counseling, educational outreach, menu planning, and the creation of educational resources. Collaboration with staff to develop, organize, administer, and evaluate community programs and participant engagement is essential.

This individual must demonstrate attention to detail, possess the ability to work autonomously, and exhibit strong training and communication skills. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized Nutrition/Dietetics Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) is required.

Effective communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to inspire individuals to adopt healthier choices and lifestyle modifications. Experience in teaching or training both individuals and groups is preferred.

This position will primarily operate in designated community resource centers, necessitating reliable transportation to various locations. The selected candidate must be prepared to fulfill this essential responsibility.

Fluency in both English and Spanish, in both written and verbal forms, is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, and evaluates work processes to ensure efficient program service delivery and achievement of objectives.
  • Engages in needs assessment data analysis to assist in crafting grant applications for project funding.
  • Interprets and explains policies, processes, applicable laws, and guidelines specific to assigned programs to resolve issues and provide information to current and prospective participants.
Coordinates actions involving multiple organizational entities and follows up to ensure all details and program requirements are met.

Reviews program operations for compliance, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and recommends corrective actions.

Instructs individuals and groups on proper methods and procedures for compliance with program regulations.

Writes or revises procedural and training manuals and summary reports.

Conducts orientation, training, and presentations for individuals, groups, and organizations.

Recruits and trains volunteers and program staff, developing work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.

Conducts surveys to gather feedback on program services and customer satisfaction, identifying service gaps.
  • Resolves operational challenges and determines appropriate solutions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications Required
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) AND
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; AND
  • One year of experience directly related to the assigned program; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
Emergency Management Responsibilities

In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties assigned by the department or relevant authorities.
