We are seeking a Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Stonegate Nursing and Rehabilitation. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by preparing, administering, and documenting medications under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities- Prepare and administer oral, topical, and suppository medications to residents as prescribed by the physician.
- Count and calculate dosages on a daily basis and document the number of scheduled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Monitor residents' vital signs as indicated and observe residents for expected actions, reportable, suspected, and adverse reactions to medications administered.
- Prepare verbal and written reports related to successful or unsuccessful medication administration, changes in resident condition, and/or departures from usual and routine.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A Certified Medication Aide in good standing.
- 6 months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), experience in a long-term care facility or skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and transfer residents (up to 100 pounds unassisted), bend, twist, push, and pull.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, skill in administering nursing techniques, including taking vital signs, medication administration, and knowledge of possible side effects.
- Exceptional organization skills, ability to prepare and maintain accurate resident charts, reports, and observations.
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal relations.
- Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills.
- Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Professional conduct and ethics.
