Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse - Allergy Care Specialist will provide direct patient care and implement procedures such as skin testing, PFT, and FeNO testing, IM and Sub-q injections, and administer medications. The successful candidate will also provide education to patients and their families by reviewing information with return demonstration and answer questions during patient visits.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care and implement procedures such as skin testing, PFT, and FeNO testing, IM and Sub-q injections, and administer medications.
  • Provide education to patients and their families by reviewing information with return demonstration and answer questions during patient visits.
  • Care for patients with food allergies, asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis/eczema, urticaria, and eosinophilic esophagitis.
  • Administer food to patients in a controlled setting to diagnose food allergies, observe, and intervene for acute allergic reactions.
  • Phone triage, review plan of care, review of asthma and food allergy plans, and prescription refills.
Requirements:
  • Technical Diploma in Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • At least one (1) year previous RN experience Required
  • At least one (1) year of previous Pediatric RN experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Computer Competency
  • Basic use of a computer (mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports)
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office (Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Skype)
  • Web browsing, intranet search, document access
  • Use of shared network file space
  • Basic use of patient-facing technology (e.g., IV pumps, point-of-care devices, CR monitors)
  • Navigation and use of clinical communication systems
  • Information Literacy
  • Determines the nature and extent of clinical information needed and uses the appropriate technology to access it
  • Accesses needed information effectively and efficiently
  • Evaluates information and its sources critically and appropriately incorporates it into clinical practice
