Fiber Line Worker Job Description

Join the City of Reedsburg, WI team as a Fiber Line Worker and be part of a dynamic team that installs, maintains, and repairs the city's fiber optic communications transmission and distribution system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain overhead and underground fiber optic cables.
  • Perform site surveys for new service drops and schedule and perform facility locates.
  • Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and restoration of communications cables and related equipment.
  • Apply for required governmental and regulatory permits associated with fiber optic construction projects.
  • Maintain the Communications Department vehicle fleet, and all equipment and tools.
  • Coordinate customer-affecting work with business and residential customers.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure services are operating to their satisfaction following changes or troubles.
Requirements:
  • Perform job duties at a very high standard of safety and workmanship.
  • Promote customer service relations in positive daily interactions with customers encountered in the field or work place.
  • Display a positive attitude and work ethic.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Respond to overtime/on-call duties as directed.
Work Environment:

Work includes inside and outside environments; in varying temperatures and weather conditions; and exposure to hazards. Work requires responding to emergency and public calls after hours including nights and weekends.
