Position Overview

The Water Transport Operator is responsible for loading, unloading, and delivering materials to various work sites as necessary. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive medium to large trucks, transporting materials between company locations while adhering to private and public road regulations.
  • Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts.
  • Ensure cargo is secured for transport using ropes, blocks, or tarps.
  • Gather and verify necessary documentation before transporting materials.
  • Collect delivery instructions from designated sources, confirming routes and directions.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections, reporting any issues or required repairs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on vehicles, such as adding oil, fuel, or other fluids.
  • Maintain accurate logs of working hours and vehicle maintenance, complying with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent may be required, along with relevant experience in the field or a related area.
  • Possess the necessary skills and knowledge for the position.
  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and relay written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Capable of using hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • The individual in this role must be able to navigate a construction or industrial site, which requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.

  • Work is performed in a construction environment, exposing the individual to varying outdoor weather conditions.

  • Availability for irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
  • May need to utilize ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffolding to access work areas, which may exceed heights of 200 feet.

  • Ability to work in confined, cluttered spaces and on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May be required to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction site.

  • Possession of required tools is necessary.
  • Adhere to all safety and project regulations, performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Must successfully pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and fit-for-duty medical evaluations.
