Job Summary:

The State of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled Nutritionist II to join our team. As a Nutritionist II, you will play a critical role in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, providing essential nutrition services to eligible participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess participants' nutrition risks and prescribe food packages accordingly.
  • Provide one-on-one and group nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support.
  • Identify participants' needs for individual care plans and implement them for low-risk participants.
  • Refer participants to other health and social services and provide follow-up to referrals.
  • Document nutrition services provided, including referrals and follow-up.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a social, community, health, education, or nutritional field.
  • Two years of experience in nutrition services, including direct client care and program management.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Valid driver's license and defensive driving certification.

Working Conditions:

The work environment is an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage. The position requires extended periods of driving and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and moderate office noise, heat, cold, and smells may be present.
