About the Role

As a Phlebotomist at UofL Health, you will play a vital role in the laboratory team, responsible for collecting and processing blood samples for testing. This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using aseptic techniques and following established protocols.
  • Process and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare teams, responding to inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and testing, adhering to regulatory requirements and laboratory standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient operation of the laboratory, participating in continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.
