Job Summary: LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing and Accessioning team as a Specimen Accessioner. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Preparation: Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Specimen Routing: Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
  • Specimen Identification: Accurately identify and label specimens, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Specimen Shipping: Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
  • Departmental Goals: Meet department activity and production goals, contributing to the team's overall success.
  • Specimen Storage: Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Data Entry: Enter patient information into the system in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring data integrity.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve and document any problem specimens, providing clear and concise solutions.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: No prior experience required; 1-2 years preferred. Previous medical or production experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Comfortable handling biological specimens, ability to accurately identify specimens, experience working in a team environment, strong data entry and organizational skills, high level of attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 40lbs and pass a standardized color blind test.
