Job Description:

This position is based in Florence, South Carolina.

Schedule and Hours:

The schedule for this role is Sunday through Thursday, with working hours from 7:30am to 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management: Independently coordinate and schedule a fleet of drivers according to customer requests, ensuring compliance with company rules and DOT regulations to maximize operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Driver Supervision: Supervise the activities of drivers and maintain daily communication with customers on areas impacting operational performance.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Coach and Counsel Drivers: Responsible for coaching and counseling drivers in areas such as safety, performance, productivity, and morale. Supervise all activities of drivers.
    • Direct and Schedule Driver's Work: Direct and schedule driver's work, planning, assigning, and distributing daily work while coordinating loads, equipment, and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
    • Manage Work Assignments: Manage work assignments, developing daily delivery plans utilizing equipment, manpower, and other resources to ensure an effective and efficient operation.
    • Transportation Solutions: Organize, plan, and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers, utilizing the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
    • Delivery and Scheduling Problems: Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors, and other Ruan locations.
    • Administrative Functions: Perform administrative functions, including payroll, billing, driver counseling, and post-accident reviews.
    • Performance Analysis: Participate in the review and analysis of operating performance.
    • Safety and Compliance: Properly use the Ruan transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner. Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations in all areas of the operation.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Transportation, or Logistics, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in Transportation or a similar industry role.
  • DOT Rules and Regulations: Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations strongly desired.
  • Dispatch Systems: Strong working knowledge of dispatch systems is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
