Job Title: Staff Systems Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Staff Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia. As a key member of our Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing system architectures, leading cross-functional teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop system architectures based on evolving mission needs, emerging technologies, and operational environments.
  • Lead a team of engineers in all aspects of the System Engineering process, including conceptual design, testing, delivery, and operations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to upgrade and improve developmental and fielded systems to maximize uptime and capability.
  • Define architecture functions, behavior, and interfaces of components, and allocate requirements from various sources to those components.
  • Use modern System Engineering tools and Model Based System Engineering Tools to document architecture, components, structure, behavior, and requirements for analysis and communication to design and test teams.
Requirements:
  • 12 years of experience with a bachelor's in science; 10 years with a master's; 8 years with a PhD, or 18 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Previous experience as SEIT Lead (or similar position) over a multi-discipline team with hardware deliverables.
  • Previous experience decomposing high-level program requirements/objectives.
  • Knowledge of RF system components and functions, and hardware and functions of SIGINT/EW systems and workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Knowledge of INCOSE Systems Engineering process.
  • DOORS and Cameo implementation and usage.
  • Knowledge of modern wireless communication systems.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Experience briefing technical material to customers at milestone events.
  • Knowledge of interferometry, TDOA/FDOA, ranging systems, and geolocation algorithms.
