Practical Nursing Specialist

Position Overview:
The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering quality healthcare within an ambulatory clinic setting. This position emphasizes the application of the nursing process to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcome patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment.
2. Document health histories and identify any irregular conditions for the healthcare provider.
3. Measure vital signs and conduct necessary screenings with precision.
4. Administer medications via intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral routes, adhering to established nursing protocols.
5. Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions and responses to treatments to the healthcare team.
6. Assist in preparing medical supplies and equipment, supporting the healthcare provider during patient evaluations and treatments.
7. Ensure timely and accurate entries in patient charts, facilitating effective communication within the healthcare team.
8. Aid in scheduling tests and treatments, coordinating referrals to specialists, and obtaining necessary pre-authorizations.
9. Collect and manage lab specimens, and enter results into the electronic medical record (EMR) as required.
10. Inform patients about test outcomes and follow-up appointments, while referring them to the appropriate healthcare professional for education.
11. Review medications, treatments, and post-visit instructions with patients and their families.
12. Screen and direct telephone inquiries to the appropriate nursing or medical staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS Certification
- Licensed Practical Nurse credential in the relevant state
- Proficient typing and word processing skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a medical office setting
