POSITION OBJECTIVE:

To deliver safe and effective healthcare services. Actively engages in the education and training of residents from affiliated Otolaryngology programs. Contributes significantly to the clinical operations of the Pediatric Otolaryngology/Audiology Division. Demonstrates a commitment to clinical excellence through participation in research and publication efforts. Participates in administrative and service activities of the Division, aligning with personal interests and expertise as agreed upon with the Division Director.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care: Deliver safe, effective, evidence-based, and compassionate healthcare services appropriate to the level of expertise and specialty. Make notable contributions to clinical services, showcasing proficiency in patient care. Establish and maintain a strong local and regional reputation among peers and patients as a leader in the field. Develop unique clinical skills or programs that stand out locally or regionally. Utilize clinically sound practices that lead to exceptional patient outcomes. Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated care plan for each patient. Integrate innovative strategies into patient care. Play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical direction of the specialty. Build a robust local and regional referral network. Make informed decisions regarding patient care, including initial assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and ongoing evaluations. Monitor the appropriateness of therapeutic interventions and care. Continuously promote positive patient care outcomes. Engage in peer review processes and quality improvement initiatives within the division.
  2. Education and Training: Take an active role in the education and clinical training of medical students and residents. Teach in both outpatient and surgical settings for residents from various programs. Supervise the clinical activities of assigned residents and students, ensuring safe and effective care. Participate in patient rounds as needed based on clinical requirements. Recognized as an outstanding educator and mentor; may lead significant educational initiatives and contribute to the development of teaching materials and curricula. Serve as a role model in mentoring students and trainees, and provide guidance to faculty and community physicians. Stay current in the field through ongoing education and professional development.
  3. Administrative and Service Contributions: Engage in program development and administrative responsibilities, evidenced by contributions to multidisciplinary clinical programs or leading innovative clinical initiatives. Provide consultation on program development and actively participate in performance improvement efforts and committee work. Engage in local or regional clinical affairs through professional society memberships. Provide necessary faculty coverage within the division. Assist in the formulation of division and hospital-specific policies and standards. Foster positive interpersonal relationships and promote teamwork. Support the establishment and achievement of long-term and short-term goals for the Division.
  4. Research and Scholarly Activities: Participate in scholarly endeavors, including clinical investigations, peer reviews, and publication of findings. Utilize advanced research methodologies to design and conduct studies in specialized areas. Develop research initiatives and publish results in a timely manner. Present findings at national meetings and contribute to the evaluation of treatment efficacy. Recommend and implement improvement strategies based on collected data and performance outcomes.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Required:

  1. Medical Degree (MD/DO) or equivalent.
  2. Active medical license in the State of Maryland or eligibility for licensure.
  3. Appropriate medical credentialing through relevant medical staff services.
  4. Completion of all necessary pre-employment requirements.
  5. Eligibility for Assistant or Associate Professor appointment.
  6. For Associate Rank, typically requires a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level.

Preferred:

  1. Board certification in relevant specialties.
  2. Certification in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology.
